My Only Loving Idol Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
My Only Loving Idol - Essay Example My father worked very hard, right after he finished college because he had no other option, but to work hard and to be successful, if he wanted to continue living in Beijing. Meanwhile, my father had to start everything from zero because his father did not have any money or suggestion to give to him. And this is obviously the gift for the elder generation. Although it could be risky and challenging, my father had never given up the opportunity to maintain his own business until today. He always tells me the story about his struggling process. From these stories, it is quite obvious that my father is proud of his efforts in life and his success. And fortunately, people were given a lot of opportunities to start their own business at that time, so as to overcome the negative impacts of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Chinese government promised a lot of encouragement to the people, which were designed to help them to start their own business. It is easy to see that people in that part icular generation had the spirit to be entrepreneurs. In my view, the attitude of hard work and frugality that was shaped by the phenomenon of Chinese Cultural Revolution is the main reason behind the creation of wealth in China, in my fatherââ¬â¢s generation. And this also explains why there was a lot of young Chinese people craving to start their own businesses. Working hard and working independently are the keywords for my fatherââ¬â¢s generation. Because my father grew up in a very poor family, he had nothing but himself.

Other events such as bar and night club events have been sponsored by the tobacco and alcohol companies to influence more people to use their products. The promotion programs are aimed at exposing the tobacco and alcohol products to the young adult potential smokers so that the companies can improve on their sales and profit margin (Jiang & Ling, 2011). The hypothesis statement was used to determine whether the increase in alcohol and cigarette abuse among young adults is due to marketing strategies of the tobacco and alcohol companies. The study found out that tobacco companies were able to offer discounted or free alcohol at Tobacco Company sponsored bar nights. The discounted or free alcohol is aimed at introducing more young adults into the usage of alcohol and tobacco products. For instance, the study found out that Marlboro promotional strategies were aimed at offering free beer to the young adults who bought their cigarette products so as to generate excitement and please the participants (Jiang & Ling, 2011). The hypothesis was accepted since the promotional and marketing strategies of the tobacco and alcohol companies were aimed at introducing more young adults into the usage of their products. The implications of the study are that tobacco and alcohol companies are contributing to the increasing deaths of young adults in the United States. Their marketing strategies only lead to more young people abusing tobacco and alcohol products. Tobacco and alcohol companies are only concerned with the sales they

A discussion by Lanston Hughes - Essay Example families and kids now of their own but it is amplified by the awkwardness of their chance meeting in the busy park in early autumn after years of no communication, each hurrying on the way home before dark. The autumn season signifies the progression towards a time of darkness and coldness, the season of winter. This also somehow conveys the message of being in the sunset or twilight of their lives already, in middle age and soon into retirement age. The exuberance of their youth had been gone and each of them is now weighed down by their respective marital and familial responsibilities. Their sense of loss is further emphasized by the loss of time, if only they could turn back the clock and go back to their younger days when they were the best of lovers. Both of them are now a bit old, although Mary is older than Bill, since she is the elder of the two. The setting of the story is unfailingly very depressing, shown by the metaphors of fallen autumn leaves from the trees, ââ¬Å"fell without wind.â⬠The time of day was ââ¬Å"autumn duskâ⬠which is ââ¬Å"nearly sunsetâ⬠already; a few more minutes and it would be dark as night sets in. It was ââ¬Å"cold.â⬠Figures of speech used, such as metaphors and euphemisms symbolize the regrets of not having pursued their dreams; both are now in the autumn of their lives (Hughes, 2002, p.

Comparing unacademic genre Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Comparing unacademic genre - Essay Example This film indeed plays like real life events happening in a modern television network station. The main actor appears to reason with critics, something that gives him an edge to pass on his message that current journalists have more ways of speaking the truth to those in authority fearlessly. He goes on showing that, the modern journalist has been able to attract the attention even first-time viewers and consequently being able to engage the viewer to give an opinion concerning both public and private policies. The movie has portrayed news anchors and journalists as people who do feed viewers and readers with the right content but in between tilt it to favor their side of the argument. That way they have an upper hand of influencing public opinion about how the ruling class executes its policies. The film is quite interesting and captivating, with all characters coming out boldly and playing their roles interactively. The piece signifies the importance of working out in a calculative and composed way with the bigger picture in mind. From the movie, one can learn how to single out truth from fiction in the work of journalists and figure out how to make independent decisions instead of following their lead. As shown, that best way is to digest the question the journalist asks then give a reply based on that piece of the article without an analysis. The piece with analysis is meant to divert your vision to something similar to what the article talks of. The movie is about a female messiah-like figure (Jupiter) who is engaging King Lear family villain siblings in a bitter war to control the solar system.
